Albania, Macedonia Paralysed by Heavy Snow
The heavy snow fall across the Balkans during the New Year holiday has left mountainous areas of Macedonia and Albania cut off and running low on food, with traffic bottlenecks affecting the rest of the region. The Albanian government called up army engineers and police special forces to free up major highways, while the country’s Center for Civil Emergencies said over 150,000 people had been cut off from the rest of the country in the regions of Kukes, Dibra and Shkodra. Schools remain closed in many areas affected by the snow. “Police patrols have been stationed 24-hours on major highways, to cope with the difficult weather conditions,” Bujar Nishani, Albania’s Minister of Interior, said on Sunday.

Serbia-Albania: Exchange of goods amounts USD 76 mln
Serbia achieved surplus, since it exported goods worth USD 65 million, while the Albanian export was USD 11 million, Tanjug news agency reported. During the ten months of this year, the exchange of goods between Serbia and Albania reached USD 76 million, data published by the Serbian Chamber of Commerc said. Oprah named entertainment's most powerful woman
he Hollywood Reporter on Friday named Oprah Winfrey the most powerful woman in entertainment on its annual "Power 100 List." Winfrey, whose "Oprah" talk show began in national syndication 22 years ago, played a role in the victory of President-elect Barack Obama by endorsing him early in his run and by supporting him throughout the campaign. Elizabeth Guider, editor of The Hollywood Reporter, remarked on Winfrey's "immense cultural influence" and said she could be "the most influential woman in America."
